Tax season, made simple

A little preparation goes a long way. Use this page to gather what we need, keep the key deadlines in view, and submit everything securely.

What to Gather

Your tax preparation checklist

Every situation is different, but most clients need the items below. Gathering them early helps us file accurately and capture every deduction you are entitled to.

Income Documents

  • W-2s for wages and salaries
  • 1099 forms (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, K, R)
  • K-1s from partnerships, S-corps, or trusts
  • Records of other income (rental, investment, foreign)

Business Records

  • Year-end profit & loss and balance sheet
  • Bank and credit card statements
  • Payroll reports and 1099s issued
  • Asset purchases and depreciation schedules

Deductions & Credits

  • Business expense worksheet and receipts
  • Vehicle mileage log
  • Home-office details (square footage, expenses)
  • Retirement, HSA, and estimated-tax payments

Personal & Prior-Year

  • Prior-year tax return (new clients)
  • Mortgage interest (1098) and property tax
  • Charitable contribution records
  • Any IRS or state notices received
Key Deadlines

Dates to keep on your radar

These are the deadlines that apply in a typical year. Exact dates shift when a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, and disaster relief or elections can change them — we will always confirm the dates that apply to you.

January 31

W-2s and 1099s due to recipients and, in most cases, to the IRS.

March 15

Filing deadline for partnerships (Form 1065) and S-corporations (Form 1120-S), or file an extension.

April 15

Filing deadline for individuals (Form 1040) and C-corporations (Form 1120); first-quarter estimated payment due.

September 15

Extended deadline for partnership and S-corporation returns.

October 15

Extended deadline for individual returns.
